You need it best when boating and sailing

Great. Our new car doesn't have tie-down straps under the bumpers, but even if there were, I understand it's a much better option. No risk of scratching the bumper paint, very easy to use and long enough to keep things simple. However, I don't want to think about what would happen to my car if the kayak pulled off at highway speed, but I'm careful with all my kayaks tied up and it's not really a problem.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Useful for canoes for rowing and sailing

Two in the trunk and two in the hood. Useful when towing a 16ft canoe. They're cheaper than the ones you can get from Rey. But they're cheap enough, I don't care if they're low quality. If necessary, I just buy a little more. Otherwise I could always just use zip ties around the hood latch with the rope sticking out. And there are other methods with other bindings and stuff if you want. So it's not necessary if you want to design Red Neck. But if you feel like you're not redneck engineersโ€ฆ

Worked great on our first long trip.

. They worked great and provided secure anchor points on the front of our pickup. All my fears about their use were in vain. When I first installed them, they were too far ahead. They slid back until they touched the hood hinge and didn't move anymore. Using a pair of ratchet mounts, both tails were securely fastened. We didn't use them on the tailgate as we had hitch hooks but on a hatchback they would fit perfectly.

Pros
  • . Easy to use.
Cons
  • . Functionality.

I didn't need the ropes that usually come with this product so I was happy to find just straps reasonably priced. I placed them under the hood and under the tailgate of my 2014 Ford Explorer. They are long enough to allow easy access to the loop. They seem well made for something in this price range; only time can tell. I didn't have to "test" them or use them in a crash or rabbit launch to see how durable they are. I tie the bow and stern of the kayak to it with twin 1/4 inch braided nylonโ€ฆ

super easy! - Boating

I bought these to avoid damaging my SUV's paintwork with the tie down straps I use to secure the bow and stern of the kayak. Also, it was very difficult for me to load the kayak; I had to lift the hood and attach the front in the open hole, kneel down and look under the back of the car to find the tow hook. With them, I just shoved one under the hood, one under the tailgate, pulled quickly and hooked in with ratchets. Along with the straps that attached the kayak to the J-hooks, my kayak wasโ€ฆ

don't bet your life on her

seems to be quite well made, but not intended for intensive use. The buttons (rubber/plastic tube) are not strong, not very stiff and it seems like the strap might break the rubber material when it gets on it. bought them for military training to tie backpacks and gear to Humvee cases etc. but didn't trust them enough even after the rubber "tubes" were reinforced with plastic to make them stiffer. I would try a higher quality brand before taking on the responsibility of tying something down the

Pros

  • There are disadvantages

They worked fine but Rhino anchor straps were used instead

I originally used them to secure two kayaks but it turned out that most of them slipped through the seam on the hood of mine cars fit . Okay, so maybe the Chrysler fits and the fairing isn't as tight as it should be, but that made me nervous. I ended up purchasing Rhino Anchor Straps and am incredibly happy with them. They hang around all the time and when I'm not using them they just slip under the hood. Nothing needs to be installed or removed; they are always by my side. I've covered several
