These filters always work well until they start to leak, most often during the year a seal fails or something on the filler head fails. But otherwise they work great. Weak power but it's Canastra! 🤷

I bought this for a 40 gallon turtle tank. Love how quiet it was and the awe of the pipes. I quickly realized that the masses being sucked into the filter are welded to the bulb inside and create a terrible smell. Towards the end I cleaned this filter several times a week. The last drop was that he completely emptied my tank onto the carpet. Wouldn't recommend if you have a turtle. It might work for fish or whatever. I even tried using it without the bulb and it smelled so bad.

I ordered this a few months ago and didn't open the box by the return date. This was a different, lower level version of what was being sold. It didn't have an on/off switch (you have to unplug it) and the main reason I bought it - the UV lamp - wasn't on either. I stuck with it anyway, so after deciding to make the best of it, I started using it. It quickly started making an absolutely insane noise. I disassembled it, cleaned and oiled the post a few times, deflated and guess what? Loud noise.

Update Review. Finally the pump started working, lots of air bubbles, once cleaned, starting problems. When I got home it was closed. I couldn't do it. He was completely dead. I thought the price of this filter would compare to the price and design of a Fluval canister filter of the same GPH but be much more powerful. quiet. You can only hear the water coming out of the outlet pipe, but the canister filter motor is not audible at all. Great filter 1/2 cheaper than Fluval as mentioned.
