Seems to work as long as other things in the tank are under control. I'm running my Betta in a new tank and between water changes the NH3 goes up to 1ppm. After adding one of these to my filter system, the NH3 stayed at 0.25-0.5ppm for 3 days with two 20% water changes.

Aquarium essential. If you are struggling with yellow water or bad smell, try this. A layer of it in your filter works wonders. I'm only giving it 4 stars because they are quite small pouches and you need two of the three pouches for one shift. So I can't get 2 replacement filters out of one box.

Works as advertised. I have a 13 year old tortoise. Two tricks for those who hate tank washing. 1. Get the greatest Fluval possible. 2. Feed your turtle in a separate tank. I put mine in a 20 gallon tank with a couple inches of water in it. I feed her and let her splash around for 10-20 minutes until she's done, then I take her back to the big tank. If you do this, you'll only need to clean the Fluval every few months, not every 7-10 days if you're feeding in an aquarium.
