They work very well but they are a lot larger than they appear in the picture. In my 80 gallon filter I only had to put about 4 filters. I have used some from another company and they were much smaller and could hold more. I don't think I'll get efficiency from them just because I can't fit enough in my filter. I would suggest only using them for larger applications. I bought two boxes but I think it will last a lifetime lol.

I think this is one of the best organic carriers. It's relatively cheap and very effective; I use it in all my doses. I bought this box to fill a step in my SUNSUN HW-302. In the past I had very healthy and densely populated tanks with this medium. I know some people say that the micropores in this type of media clog over time, but how quickly this happens really depends on a lot of factors. I wash mine with tank water at every water change and maybe once a year I change 10% to fresh medium.

Just what I needed, I got the sponges from a Marineland Emperor 400 on my 30 gallon reef tank. You won't find cheaper at Petco or Walmart. Great carrier, Prob takes 2 cartons to fill a canister tray but they last forever so it's worth it. Excellent support surface, very porous.
