🐠 Enhance Aquarium Water Quality with Fluval U Underwater Filter BioMax - A495 Replacement Filter Media Review

This replaced my 5.5 gallon Betta main filter cartridge. It's easy to clean, just dip it in water from an old fish tank and move it around.

I have a Fluval U2 filter for a 10 gallon aquarium where I keep a red-eared turtle. I change every 3-4 weeks. It works surprisingly well, Red Ear Slider turtles are messy. One box contains enough to fill my filter twice.

My Fluval filter had room for this material. So I replaced it with this product. I use a filter for a shallow turtle tank. As a result, so much ugly limescale is deposited on the tank glass, which means double the cleaning work. From that moment I stopped using Biomax.

I bought this for my Fluval Edge and although it mostly fell apart in the box I was able to find a method that works for me and my tank. After a thorough rinse, before replacing the old Biomax, I cut out some replacement white filter foam, which is much thinner than the original Fluval filter foam, and fold it in there to keep it from dangling in my gray plastic filter holder. The Fluval U4 does not come with enough ceramic media, so it's a good idea to get an extra one if you're going to buy one. A box is more than enough to fill a cartridge and it seems to be of better quality than mine despite being the same brand. The ceramic media comes in a mesh/mesh bag which needs to be cut open for use in the U4 or can be used in other types of filters entirely.
