Now I can't live without it

What the heck did I do my first 5 years as an electrician without one of these things? Whether you're doing any type of overhead work where roulette wrestling just isn't possible, or doing repetitive pipeline finishing work, this thing is magic. It's well built, stays open and closed with no issues, doesn't fold when held over the head, accurate, easy to read. Get one. You will not regret it.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Only available in black

Not sure for a good job, but probably good for the intended purpose.

I have two that should be used in a furniture store. When compared side by side, the difference is approximately 1/16 inch. Compared to my Tajima tape measure, the difference is almost 1/8 inch. Works well, light weight, easy to read and will be fine. if it were your only gauge. Otherwise it is meaningless for precise work. For drawing and electrics most likely quite good.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Protection

The numbers are on the right!

As a pipe fitter, I used similar rules a few years ago. This 6 foot folding rule is sturdier than the old one as it is made of fiberglass instead of wood. It's the same length as my old six foot ruler, so that's good. Works for carpenters too, as they carefully crafted multiples of sixteen inches of red. Sixteen, for you non-carpenters, are common centers for 2X4 spacing in construction. Conveniently, sixteen is a factor of forty-eight, so you can place three supports evenly spaced on a 4-foot…

Perfect fit for our needs

My son plays sports where consistent foot position from competition to competition is critical. This folding rule is perfect for our needs. It has withstood almost daily abuse from a teenager for over a year and still works well. If you only need to use the ruler partially extended, make sure you buy a ruler with the measurements pointing in the right direction. We're fine, but we've seen others in our sport get their metrics going the wrong way, so they couldn't get their rulers straight.

Pros
  • Stainless steel Force-Lock pivots and spring pivots for added durability
Cons

Produced in Switzerland!

There is an indoor version (regular) and it seems perfect for my household needs when I miss it. The good news is that it's made of heavy-duty nylon (according to the packaging, it's reinforced with fiberglass for extra strength). My former wooden ruler broke, this is the first time I've encountered fiberglass. I love how easy it is to read the black markings with the 1/16" markings clearly visible. The folding mechanism is durable and easy to use. Klein is an American company but I was happy…

Well made general purpose ruler - electrically safe

I am an electrical engineer and needed a ruler to work on electrical equipment. This entire line is made of nylon-reinforced fiberglass and is non-conductive, according to Klein. There is a small stainless steel spring at the junction of each segment, but it is recessed and unlikely to touch anything dangerous. The ruler segments can be easily opened with little effort and locked in a 90 or 180 degree position. I prefer rulers for reading inside, as most of the time I measure relative to the…
