Worked great for about 2 years

This welder was great to learn how to weld with an electrode. In the first two years of the assignment, I completed a few projects and began to feel confident in my abilities. Unfortunately, the machine stopped working after that and is no longer supported by Forney. It will flare up on contact with project material but won't stop no matter what I do. I changed the electrode holder, ground clamp and both cables but that didn't help. Now I'm looking for a new welder and again it won't be a cheap

It's pathetic and won't do what you need it to do

It does absolutely nothing but create sparks. Bars 6011 and 7018 absolutely do not work, despite other reviews, this is simply impossible. In 1 hour I could make several bows and make a board in 2-3 seconds. It was the most disappointing car I've ever seen. You'll need a 1/16 or smaller rod, which I just don't want to do because it will never weld anything thicker than a few sheets of notebook paper. My Weller 51 soldering iron would probably weld better than this one.

This is an amazing machine, I was very skeptical about finding it.

I bought this to complement my company's motorhome. This is an amazing machine, I was very skeptical when I opened it up and saw how small and light it was. All I can say is WOW. I welded it and actually tested it today by welding 1/4" gauge steel with ease. I would say the 3/32 rods performed very poorly. I switched to 1/8" and to 65 Amps set and no more problems. full penetration with ease. After about an hour of continuous use, the device barely felt warm. I doubt you'll find a better…

Great portable welder for the money.

Very good welder for the price. Surprisingly smooth arc, but the seams are a bit cold. Using a 1/8" stem is a bit optimistic. With a 3/32 crank all the way up to 90a the power is still not as hot as I would like. It's worth noting that the 90a setup on this machine is noticeably colder than on larger, more professional machines.. Arc ignition is a bit harsh, but that's to be expected. 120v machine for $150. I would recommend them to anyone who doesn't have to do a lot of welding, or is just…

Extremely impressed.

I have a wheel on my lawn tractor that uses radar to detect fences, roots and other obstacles. I've welded it many times (ugly welds because all my life I didn't know how Going back to the old adage that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, I bought this welder knowing that as I got older, wacky or not, I had welded enough electrodes in the past to to memorize the technique.after a little sanding and wire brushing, right out of the box, this little welder started making a nice strong bead.I was

Nice welder for light work

I've dabbled in scrap welding lately ref. I had a 30 year old 110 WeldMate that could get the job done but it was heavy and hard to welding. It's recommended for light work, but I manage to use railroad spikes and bolts in some of my projects. He welds them, but it's difficult because the steel is very hard and thick. I use a 3/32, 6011 rod most of the time, but I have a box of very old 1/8" 6011 rods and it seems to work just as well for most things. I use a variety of metals in my hobby…

learned to weld with this

Easy to understand. You either have a welder or you don't yet know you need one. I've used this for a lot of things that took me a lot longer to do without a welder. There are some connections where I still prefer screws in some cases (I'm an architect so I have experience in construction). I've only welded a few times and had no problems with this welder. Everything is of surprisingly good quality. with gloves on and off is very difficult, otherwise I can not find the problem. Some reviews say
