Not as smooth as other Mitutoyo types but they could be more accurate. I've tested them from 1" to 3" and never differed by more than 0.0003" and that's only because it rounds up to 0.0005" compared to the latest Mitutoyo in the store, the differs by 0.001" and has a habit of not resetting to zero.
