The gasket that came with the transmission pan was folded in the box so I had to use Permethex to secure it to the pan, also the gasket should be thicker and more rubbery.

If you change the fluid according to the manufacturer's recommendations, this filter will be fine. Supplied with 2 different seals for the selected vehicle.

Finding the right filter is easy but the 42RE has 3 options so I understand the confusion. I chose this one because I know it works and is a bit more reliable than the others. The included "cork" gasket, just for your information.

I am happy with the seal but disappointed with the filter. Couldn't use it. My 47RH only has 2 mounting holes instead of the 3 that hold my filter, but that's not too bad. This filter is about 3 times thicker than stock and I couldn't use it with my stock oil pan. This will probably work with a deep pan, but it's too thick for an OEM pan. Luckily I had a spare filter to use instead. But I like the pad that comes with this set.
