Buy this for the bottom barn door slots!

So I put this bit in my trial cutter, it worked like a dream! Except that I pushed it too deep into the collet and the collet burned the top of the wood. So I adapted it to cut a gap in my barn door. When I started the router it started up somewhere near me, apparently I didn't crank it up to the end. abominable! I'm lucky it didn't mess up my normal face or puncture our minivan. But I'm glad it didn't hurt the neighbor kid watching me or anything else. Routers are dangerous, treat them with…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Dear

Cutter parts and accessories are worth every penny

Use a cutter to cut a groove in the bottom of a barn door for a bottom track. The door is made of pine and this piece is carved as if it weren't there. I have a pretty solid Porter wire cutter with three hard carbide teeth that cuts smoothly and aggressively. I love it. It's also worth the money for my everyday use. Great tact. Two things to watch out for (no problem, be aware). This is a 1/2 inch bit. My router has interchangeable collets, that's no problem for me. I managed to get a few dents

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Great slot cutter from Freud - you won't regret it!

I have used this Freud bit on oak and pine and it has been very satisfactory. I made two passes in oak so as not to overload the router, but the router ate everything. For pine, I cut in one pass, worried that the cutter would sit squarely in the slot, but there were no problems, just lots of small chips. The instructions said that a slot cutter should be used in a table-top router since it was over 1-1/2 inches (actually two inches) in diameter, but it was easy for me to operate in manual mode

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
