Quality Forged Construction - instead of casting, strengthens bits for extended life.
I made balcony railings and stair railings. I had to drill 86 precise holes for one end of the balusters. It was pine, which isn't as hard as hardwood, but the drill bit did the job with no splinters or problems. The last hole was as clean as the first.
If you don't mind shelling out $15 for something that will only last a few cuts, this is the drill for you. I had 27 baluster holes that needed to be drilled by the time I finished 10 was all I could do to get this bit to cut wood, it doesn't stay sharp for long at all
Besides the unusual size of 11/16" this Forstner bit has proven itself many times over. 2 thin coats of joinery and usually the edge on the other side wears off when the Forstner This Freud model has teeth that help saw and form a nice circle that hasn't damaged the back of the joinery doors so far I'll definitely be buying 2 more!
