Smart, well done on the headset

My first experience with a carbon fork, this compression plug is new territory. It's well thought out. The fork is tightened radially, separate from the top cap, which tightens axially to properly preload the headset. Maybe they're all like that, but I'm a fan of correct torque notation. I was a little confused by the "no mtb" warning in the instructions, but another reviewer already sorted it out. The old Raleigh is coming out of retirement as a commuter/city assault vehicle. Should be fun.

A major disadvantage of the cover used on this device is that it is made of aluminium. I rounded the 6mm slot on the top cap with a simple hex wrench. The cap is TOO SOFT to tighten with the correct torque to tighten the stem to the fork. HORRIBLE design and now I have no money for this product. SAD, that's it. The design/invention of this device is really smart and installs in seconds. Brilliant design overall with a HUGE flaw that makes the lid a tiny pewter colored little aluminum lid that…

It's good design. You can adjust the position of the spreader plug in the steering column by about 2.5 cm - this allows you to set the plug at the same height as the stem. Having the plug at the same height as the stem is good as there is less chance of crushing the carbon stem and it adds a bit of strength to the whole system. Some of the expansion plugs I've seen sit on the top of the steerer tube and then when you tighten them they expand naturally leaving a gap between the top of the…
