These things get better every few years

These things get better every few years and this device is no exception - it's a very functional, feature-rich and easy-to-use GPS. I don't think the instructions are particularly well written, but sufficient. My only major slap to its performance (missing star) is that it too often makes last-minute announcements like "Turn left at the next light," which can be less than a few hundred yards away when there's already a lane to There are left turns. full of cars. It doesn't happen all the time…

  • Hands-free operation

Great 6 inch screen and very clear sound

This is my fourth Garmin. The 6 inch screen is great, the audio is very clear. I like the big screen as I put the rightmost block that shows my item selection. I choose kilometers travelled, arrival time, altitude and direction. My new car doesn't have a compass. Garmin is very easy to use and customize where you want to go. It takes a little getting used to but this is my fourth GPS and I know all the little tricks and where to touch the screen for different effects and functions. Without…

Contradictory, clumsy and stupid.

I bought this to replace my old Garmin and am very disappointed in this next generation model. Navigation really got WORSE. The device sends you on lanes to save 0.1 miles, which is a waste of time (although the device is set to the fastest time). Garmin has also changed the menu interface, making the device cumbersome and illogical to operate. If you've used Garmin in the past, don't expect this to be a similar experience. The only improvement of the device is the forwarding function, which…

I like the big screen

I like the big screen. This is the third Garmin GPS I have owned and as always they are great. The only downside I found with it is the traffic avoidance feature. This is great for alerting you to traffic on your route when you're on the Interstate and giving you an alternate route to save time. However, he has no idea how the traffic flow is on the alternative route. I experienced it in Miami. There was an accident on I-95 and she suggested an alternate route because of the fast traffic on the

Replacement for 11 year old Garmin

My 11 year old Garmin has finally given up. He kept losing satellite reception. Especially bad when I was in an area where I had no idea where I was. I chose Garmin again because it was great until it wore out. The new one takes some getting used to. Navigation requires more information. With the old one, I simply entered the address and off we went. This one keeps asking me to enter my country and state and initially always finds me in Miami, Florida, not Los Angeles. I need to type in that…

Took an intuitive process and tinkered with it.

Very new to this device although we've been using Garmins for years and love their intuitive simplicity. Our 58LMT is said to be a 2015 product, but the first thing we noticed was that the restaurant section lists places that closed over five years ago. Recommend calling any place that is new to you before you leave the street. Very disappointing (and yes, we've made updates - but if the department wasn't created before 2015, why is it listing places that haven't been around since 2010?) Also…

  • Pretty impressive

  • Good but not great

Bare Essentials Barely There

I should probably give this GPS a higher rating as it works as advertised. Keep in mind that this is a member of the Garmin Essential series, meaning only the basic features are included. I should have read the description more carefully, I thought I would upgrade from Garmin to their "best" 2015 model for several years (at least at the top price). But I do miss being able to give voice commands to my GPS, connecting it to my phone via Bluetooth, and having a long battery life. This device will
