Description of Garmin Edge 1030 Plus Bike Computer with GPS, Advanced Workout Suggestions, ClimbPro Pacing Guidance, and More (010-02424-00)

The ultimate GPS cycling computer with 3.5” color touchscreen display combines navigation, performance, cycling awareness and smart connectivity. Get ready to ride without the fuss with prepopulated custom ride profiles based on your previous Edge computer, your ride types or your sensors. Receive on-device ride and workout suggestions based on your current training load and VO2 max (When paired with compatible sensors). Manage your efforts on long climbs with the ClimbPro feature, which shows remaining ascent and grade when you’re climbing while following a route or course. Get training guidance by syncing structured indoor or outdoor workouts to your device from the Garmin Connect app or other apps, including TrainingPeaks and TrainerRoad. Track jump count, jump distance and hang time with mountain bike (MTB) dynamics; other MTB features include Grit, which rates the difficulty of a ride, and Flow, which measures how smoothly you descend a trail so you have a score to beat next time. Get inReach satellite communicator compatibility (active satellite subscription for inReach device required). Cycling awareness features give loved ones peace of mind; incident detection and assistance — which send your location to emergency contacts (when paired with a compatible smartphone, feature limitations exist). Explore more with the ability to pause off-course notifications, then get directions back to the route when you’re ready to resume. Power your longest rides with up to 24 hours of battery life (Battery life may vary depending on usage); works with the Garmin Charge power pack, so your Edge cycling computer can last up to 48 hours.

Type of review

A few bad things: - the settings interface is inconvenient and confusing; - there is no map of my region in the delivery, there was only one map of some Chinese area, the maps are SOLD separately, their quality is unknown, so I had to look for where to get the map for free and how to install it; - there is no map update function, this must be done manually as needed; - battery readings are buggy if the device is not turned off completely, but put into sleep mode; - the most unpleasant thing is…

Pros
  • Navigation, large screen, modern wireless sensors
Cons
  • No maps included, unneeded features enabled after update

Great product but for the price I expected more

Worked well and connected to all attachments with ease. I don't have any issues with the size of the device that some reviews have complained about. It has a lot of interesting training options and it doesn't take long to set it up. Cons: For the price, I was expecting a better OS, GPS, and a smoother experience compared to the competition. Be sure to check out other brands before you buy.

  • Pleasant to use

Great hardware, buggy software

I've been in the Garmin hiking and cycling universe for over a decade and have used at least ten different devices over the years. I still own and use some of these. As usual, Garmin released good hardware with a lot of bugs in the software. It costs me too much to be a beta tester. I returned it. You can follow the current state of affairs in the Garmin Edge 1030 plus forum. I will continue to follow and buy again if they end up removing things that annoy me.

Excellent - Garmin exceeds - 100% satisfied

Significant performance improvement over 1030, superior battery life, automatic syncing of external devices, screen brightness and readability. GREAT. And the supplier, Playbetter Store, went out of their way to get the Garmin 1030+ PLUS to me quickly, accurately and without hassle. They were even able to change shipping labels at the last minute that were mistakenly sent to FedX (my mistake)! PLUS and kudos for being such a customer focused, professional and friendly company. 100% satisfied!

Overpriced for very outdated screen technology

This device is a terrible product for a cyclist. For its price you would expect it to offer clear and easy navigation for two wheelers. Instead, the nav cursor is so tiny (it can't be made any bigger) that it practically blends into the route line, which, if you look down to orient yourself, could land you in a traffic accident or MTB fall. running off the path into a bush or tree. The display is a joke. It lacks contrast, making it difficult to distinguish between a road and a POI like a park…

Pros
  • Sleek design

Great bike computer

Love this thing. This is a great upgrade over the old Garmin Edge 1000 I previously had. I also use their Vivosmart 4 watch to get my heart rate data and I use their smart headlight and rear radar and step power meter. The 1030 integrates perfectly with these other devices with no hiccups, along with the transfer info from my Di2 kit, and merging all my data into the Garmin Connect app and syncing to Strava is flawless. I am very satisfied with this expensive but handy computer. You won't…

Garmin vs Wahoo. like no comparison at all.

I've tested several different bike computers and the technology has changed so much it's unbelievable. So I tried Wahoo Elemnt Roam and Garmin Edge 1030+. The only way to put it that way is if Wahoo Elemnt Roam is Apple then Garmin is HP with its own operating system developed and operated by the call center. bad, it's like wow, it's really bad. Trying to figure out how to use it when you just want to drive is just awful. In addition, there are many random essential apps and you have Homer's…

Easy to Read, Easy to Use: Sports and Handheld GPS

I've used at least 2 other types of bike computers over the years. Wahoo Elemnt and simple Garmin. I had a hard time finding the right buttons to switch between screens/functions etc from the front panel. The 1030 plus model is equipped with a touch screen (sensitivity adjustable) and a simple and fast movement. Save multiple screens. I set it up as a basic 4 panel screen and can navigate to more detailed screens. I rarely use navigation, I know my routes in advance. I don't want the navigation
