Best Solution Best Solution for Chargers and Cables

If you don't have a Montana, this is a much better solution than Cigarette Lighter Adapter Power Cables. The cigarette lighter adapter cables fall apart where the spring clips attach the probe that goes into the cigarette lighter socket. Unfortunately, they still use a mini-USB connector in an environment unsuitable for a mini-USB connector. Water and dust MAY get into the USB port.

Connect to PLB

I bought this cable to connect my Garmin 550T to an older Personal Locator Beacon that doesn't have built in GPS (but has interface capabilities). I already had bare wire from the beacon side, so all I had to do was splice the bare wires from the two cables. I only needed two wires as there is no power in this setup, but that's not a problem and leaves the door open for other future uses. The cable was well labeled and connection was easy for anyone with little electronics knowledge.

Reduces voltage to 5 volts

This is only a power cord for the Nuvi series, so there is not much to describe here. However, I would like to point out that this cable accepts an input voltage of 8-36 volts and goes down to 5 volts for the Nuvi. Try as I might, I couldn't find any specs for it, so I took a chance that it would have a built-in voltage regulator. I basically cut off the data cables and just connected the power cables to my bike to power the Nuvi. .The cable has a sticker (poorly visible in the picture) that…

The cable has a 90Β° end instead of a straight end as shown

The image shown is not correct. On the Garmin 450, all power cords have a 90Β° connector, which allows the cord to protrude from the front of the unit. I was looking for a straight plug cable or one where the cable goes straight to the back of the device. The picture shows the cable with a straight connector, but it's actually a 90Β° connector, which makes the cable stick out forward like all the others. I wish Garmin or someone else would have made a working cable. And FYI regular mini USB…

Pros
  • GPS, finders and accessories
Cons
  • Some errors

Doesn't work with my Garmin GPS even though it's listed as a compatible device. Contacted Garmin Tech Support and they didn't answer. I was told there was no support for connecting GPS to PC to read NMEA sentences directly from the serial port. I've done this with countless other GPS units, both Magellan and Garmin, with Hyper Terminal, but as per Garmin technology, the serial data can only be seen by other devices on the boat like a chartplotter and not a computer(?) I really wanted to connect

Pros
  • electronics
Cons
  • boring packaging

5 stars in the end.

I bought this cable, connected it to my Garmin 62 cs and immediately got the message "This accessory is not supported". After verifying that the cable was correct, I emailed Garmin Support. The same day I received a reply that they would send me a new cable free of charge. No questions. They didn't ask where I bought it, how I used it, nothing. You didn't ask for anything bad. About a week later I received the cable and it works great. It appears to be identical to the one I bought from Revain.

Pros
  • GPS System Accessories
