Specifically-engineered materials resist collapse under vacuum. Engineered to resist electrochemical degradation, the leading cause of hose failure. Pre-shaped to fit and to ensure perfectly sealed conditions. EPDM tube; synthetic fiber knit reinforcement; heat-, ozone- and chemical coolant-resistant EPDM cover. Meets requirements of SAE 20R4, class D2 and DIN 73411, class A (except for tolerances).

Disappointed with Lower Radiator Hose

This Automotive Hose & Pulley let us down. Using this product, our team found that it does not fit properly and leaked coolant. The cons heavily outweigh the one pro that it was made of quality materials. We ended up having to replace it with a more reliable hose from a different brand. Would not recommend this product.

Great hose buy, at this price you can't go wrong

Fits well, not as well as OEM but works well, feels a bit stretched , but works fine, holds pressure well, no leakage. The material seems to be a high quality rubber. This is a common problem, mainly in 02-year-old foresters.

This Gates Lower Radiator Hose 22553 was a perfect match for my 2003 Forester XT

I needed to replace the radiator on my 2003 Forester XT so I decided to replace the hoses. The Gates 22553 lower radiator hose fitted my 2003 Forester XT perfectly and earned it five stars. I have also found that hoses, fan belts and other Gates replacement parts are almost always the right size and in most cases better materials than original parts.
