Replaced the water pump with this new Gates unit, not sure how efficient the old unit was but the Gates unit seems to be pumping more coolant? Dunno without disassembly to see if it's a high volume or stock unit, but it appears that more coolant is being pumped through the unit and the HD wheel, new thermostat, etc. to cool more efficiently .

I bought this water pump for my Jimmy 2000 GMC after my original water pump failed in 200,000 This is a high quality Gates product. Fits perfectly, no flaws or problems. This was my first pump replacement. In the end I chose Gates because of the low price. I installed it on a 2002 Chevy Express 2500 4.3L Vortec engine. I'll update after a few months of use but now it's on the second day. I replaced the water pump, clutch fan, belt tensioner and idler pulley. no hard work if you take your time. I bought this pump on 08/12 for almost a year to a month when it's broken down (flows from tear duct). Revain does not live up to the lifetime guarantee (hence disappointed). So I called the Gate Corp office and got in touch with a local representative in my area. Nice guy, gave a guarantee on the pump and sent me a new one.
