Five Stars: Belt

Good quality product without paying the retail price. This was for my Miata 96 by the way and the quality is similar to the OEM.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Exorbitant Price

Great quality great price

This belt is as close to factory as you can get and the whole set is excellent quality. I also bought a Gates water pump, it was the same quality, perfect fit, no leaks.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • crumpled

Great Timing Belt: Belt

I broke the timing belt on my Miata 91 at 150,000 miles and thanks to the fast shipping I was able to replace it without much downtime. Gates makes high quality components, I hope they last another 150,000 miles.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Clarity

Timing belt fits belt

Several made at Miatas. Not the easiest thing to install on a car. But definitely every 60k. Replace the water pump while you're in. They had no problems with Gates brand parts. Cheaper to buy online than in store.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

On time and fits in my car

Just what I need to fix my car. Great stuff at a great price. I haven't been able to ride yet because other sellers don't know their products and are waiting two weeks for a package of coils, but I'm sure this product will be fine. Looks high quality

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

All parts appear to be of good quality. I will update this review in a few.

A few years ago I reworked the timing belt on my '90 Miata and had to disassemble it for something else. At this point one of the tensioners in the timing belt kit I was using was already quite worn and spattered with grease. I bought this kit, installed it, no complaints so far. All parts appear to be of good quality. Will update this review in a few years.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

Quality replacement parts. I support the reviewer's advice.

quality parts. I endorse the advice of reviewer R. Hooper. I would add a suggestion to purchase a new Woodruff key (a piece of metal that inserts into the transmission mechanism to hold it in place) from your local Mazda dealer. Mazda offers to replace it when servicing the timing, and it only costs about $5. Although the timing belt repair manual I've read states that the tension spring may be the wrong length, this was the case on my '94. With NB or 1.6 it may be different. l cars so check it

Pros
  • quality construction
Cons
  • base required
