Softens water and reduces chlorine/sludge

This filter softens my water and reduces chlorine and scale. I haven't done any scientific testing to see how much it has changed my water, but I'm satisfied with how effective it is. I use the sixth filter in my original shower enclosure - I haven't had any of the cracks or issues that some of the other reviewers have had. Please note that buying locally may be cheaper than online, but this varies by region.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Does not filter out chlorine

Water tested for chlorine after a month of use. The chlorine is still there and does not filter out the chlorine. I'm wondering if the chloramine my city adds to tap water has something to do with this filter not being able to filter out chlorine. If so, then this filter is useless because many cities and counties across the country are adding chloramine to their municipal water systems. I should have tested that useless filter first. I use test strips to detect chlorine in filtered tap water.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled

Not happy with GE filter

I have been using a GE shower water filtration system for a few years now. I recently purchased six FXSCH filters for $9.99 each for our use and for relatives who use this product. They should be changed every six months. There are a couple of issues with this filter. First, the product only has a limited warranty of 30 days from the date of purchase. Too many of these products arrive defective. When unpacking and unpacking, turning over, the filter sand either spilled out or was washed onto…

Pros
  • nice touch
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
