Not bad but the camera cable doesn't fit

One of the reasons I bought this board was because I thought I'd like the footprints. I do not know. The blank pads in one of the corners caught my attention and I learned they were for the EEPROM, which allows the device to identify itself to the RPi and is required for the device to conform to HAT specifications. The traces go to pins on the RPi dedicated to this purpose (i.e. gpios are not wasted). However, for me I would look for a replacement due to the CSI cable slot being misaligned and…

Sturdy, durable board.

I needed to control a refrigerator and wanted to be able to turn off the temperature input and current signal output when not in use. For the DB9 connectors shown in the picture I drilled a 1/8" hole and super glued the outer (non-signaled) pins in addition to soldering the pins. Plug or unplug the connectors. I would like to point out that this board does not have all 9 pins supported. You must select the bottom 4 or top 5 pins and cut off the row you don't need, or it won't fit on the…

Not for photo projects

I usually read negative reviews but not this time. Oops. I bought these boards (red version) for the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera project and noticed that the camera cable slot was misaligned. I had to file the outside edge of the groove a few millimeters. This broke the ground trace to the EEPROM as well as the connection between the 5V ground rail and the 3.3V ground rail. I had to add a jumper to reconnect the ground rails. Otherwise it's good. For projects without a camera I would give…

Okay, but the camera cable slot isn't big enough

Nice little prototyping riser, but if you're using a camera ribbon cable, the slot through this board isn't in exactly the right place. It will fit, but it squeezes the cable a lot. I had to cut a slot on the bandsaw which was fine but it ruined the circuitry to add the EEPROM. My experience was with Pi 3.

Fits well. Computers and accessories

Perfect fit. Before soldering, make sure the connector is firmly inserted into the board. Using these I install a small 5V buck regulator on the breadboard and connect it to the 5V pins on the breadboard. This way I can easily run the PI on 12V or even 24V. I 3D printed a PI package to match this breadboard and buck converter.
