Cooler is awesome. housing does not fit.

The cooler is amazing. As a result, the temperature of the Pi drops by about 20 degrees under load. However, the case is pretty much useless. When assembled properly, there is a pretty decent gap between the top of the chip and the heat pipe. It's also a little tricky to work with as it's made up of 5 separate pieces that are tricky to put together when reassembling. It comes with a full cooler assembly and a full case assembly, so there are a lot of extra parts including fan and heatsink that…

  • Great design

  • Definitely bad product

There is a video instruction on YouTube for this kit (pi4 8GB)

After reading many negative reviews I was skeptical about this product. It turned out to be pretty easy to install after watching the instruction video. As many reviewers have said, don't over-tighten the screws. For those looking to install a case with a heatsink, just ignore everything else that came with the case, heatsink with RGB fan, mounting screws, and CPU thermal pad. These other kits are additional options for fine tuning, which I think is a plus if I happen to get another pi4.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Nothing here

I recently received an 8GB Raspberry Pi-4B that came with chip heatsinks in a fan cooled case. After noticing that the CPU temperature was consistently above 80Β°C even with minimal load, I upgraded the case to this Ice Tower case. Wow what a difference! Now the CPU temperature is usually below 40C, which is much better! The only downside is the very small screws and hardware needed to assemble it, but once assembled it's very solid and comes with a second Pi case (with a 40mm fan instead of…

You won't know you need this cooler until you buy it.

I used thermal grease instead of the tape that came with it. This may have caused its own share of problems. The case is difficult to assemble as I have sausage fingers. I had to bend the mounting plates a bit to get the cooler with the paste on to the CPU, that shouldn't be a problem with the tape if it was a matter of choice. My Pi 4 was idling at 38-40Β°C and with the fan active, consuming 1750MHz CPU OC, 750MHz GPU, which is about as much as I could get at room temperature without thermal…

Case and cooler not compatible

Very simple and SMALL print out of the cooler assembly instructions, none at all for the case and no instructions how to assemble the cooler and case which is a big problem as they have to be assembled as a unit unit as 1 part of the housing has to be assembled around the bottom of the radiator. The cooler completely interferes with the use of the RAM module heatsink, so the RAM cannot be cooled. The case interferes with the use of a heatsink on a USB chip, so it can't be used either. Also, the

don't overdo it!

Be careful when tightening the combination of screws and brass bushings, if you use them the bushings will damage the plastic by being 'pulled' into the plastic as the bushings have a very small diameter and concentrate all your clamping force on a small piece of plastic. Also, the base of the heat pipe assembly doesn't make physical contact with the processor if you're using a laminated plastic case. I preferred to use brass extensions and just a layer of plastic as a base. This configuration…

PITA for SBC Build

I put off buying one of these Ice Tower coolers for two reasons: 1) I hate the colored LED fan. I generally view PC color lighting as a cancer. If you like it, I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't think we can be friends. What was my surprise when I opened the box and there was both a LED fan and a non-LED fan. Win! It should actually be listed as a feature in the product description. 2) I wanted some kind of cover. Most ice towers on the market assume you will be using the rPi as a bare…
