My wife and I use them in restaurants to hold the phone or phones for our daughter to use the drawing/drawing app. It is more durable and compact than the much more expensive metal ones.

They are smartly designed, fit in your wallet but easily broken. Furthermore, they are only suitable for landscape viewing on the phone, but not for portrait (vertical) viewing. I don't think setting up the phone as a camera would be good. Pretty good, but not the best. You can just keep one in your wallet if you really need a kickstand.
