Works vertically, horizontally.

I use this to calibrate the height of a table saw blade. Check the depth of the incisions and dado. I also use it over my table saw blade with the tip against the fence to measure the width of the cuts from the edge of the board when making dados. I add the width of the blade I'm using to the gauge when cutting strips of a certain width from a larger board. Makes it easy to be consistent from one job to the next.

I need to measure some offsets in a small plastic box and trying to use a smaller ruler or other calipers doesn't do the trick. This tool makes it easier. But more importantly, I find it extremely useful for adjusting the blade height on my table saw. I didn't originally buy it for this, but . While the magnets aren't super strong, they are strong enough to hold the gauge over the blade, and with one hand I can rotate the blade to the correct height with MUCH better accuracy than a feeler…

This digital depth gauge with detent makes it much easier and quicker to set and compare the spacing of the stencil fingers on my 16" wide Keller 1601 socket stencil from the front of the stencil board. The distance from the face of the mounting board to the semicircular end of the template socket fingers will determine the fit of the mating wood dovetails.Tougher woods such as hard maple require more precise control of this depth to get a good fit without using excessive force to spank it.You…
