This lanyard is a complete waste of money if you actually need TO tow something. Automotive enthusiasts beware, this product may let you down when you need it most. After I put it to the test, the lanyard snapped and failed to secure my trailer .The only positive is its sleek design, but what use is that if it doesn't work? Don't bother with this lanyard if you actually plan on hauling anything..

You'd think for the price you could lock it inside the receiver and keep it safe, but no, it doesn't go deep enough into the receiver to lock. Maybe I would have preferred to make it out of metal too, but that could just be me. I'll have to see how the plastic holds up. There is a really cool feature of the lanyard ring so you can use your hitch for towing and don't have to completely remove the cover. However, this belt ring does not work on my Range Rover receiver.
