Brought my Inspiron 5558 back to life

Dell made a really crappy quality laptop with the Inspiron 15 5000 series; After about four years of moderate use, my laptop failed to recognize the charger and got stuck at 0.48GHz CPU, which is VERY slow. I've searched all over the internet for a solution ranging from replacing the motherboard to replacing the charging connector and it all seems too time consuming. The simplest solution was to use a 65w charger instead of the included 40w charger. Suffice to say, the laptop is back in actionโ€ฆ

Dell 65w 4.5mm AC adapter - works right out of the box

The new 65w AC adapter fits my Dell 5558 Inspiron laptop perfectly and charges my battery , as soon as I just connected him network. Hooray! I leave the 45W power adapter that came with my laptop for emergencies. My laptop needs 65W power. who knew Other than Dell? My battery stopped charging about a year after I bought it, so I had to keep it plugged in whenever I used it (what a burden). Also, the 45W power adapter is cut/cracked at the base of the outlet and it cuts power intermittentlyโ€ฆ

  • Works great for me

  • New competition has arrived

Not sure if this is original

This is supposed to be an OEM replacement but it is not the same as the original. When my original was connected I couldn't see the metal. Also, I've used it for years and it never fell out. I only had to replace it because my laptop's outlet is on the left and the wall outlet is on the right, so the cord was always kinked and eventually shorted out. I bought this new one a few weeks ago. First, there is a gap between the rubber and my laptop and I can see the metal part of the connector. Andโ€ฆ

Keeping "connected not charging "

It worked great for about 1 month but then I started having problems with it not charging. I'm getting notifications that I need to use the 65W charger from my laptop. This is a 65W charger. Also, sometimes it won't charge even when plugged in. I have to fiddle with the cable to get a charge and if I move my laptop it might stop charging. Also, sometimes I get sparks when I plug it into an extension cord. A NOTICE. My husband decided to check the voltage and amperage of the cord as I had soโ€ฆ

It looks EXACTLY like what Dell sent with my laptop.

I have an Inspiron 17 5000 series laptop (5767); His charger started failing due to problems with the plug (into the computer). While I was concerned that it wasn't "genuine," I choked on the $52 price tag when I bought it from Dell. Anyway I just got this today and it's identical to what I got from Dell with the computer! My original charger didn't say "Dell" anywhere, and neither did this one. So far everything works great! If anything changes in the future I will come back and edit thisโ€ฆ
