You have to select it on your phone every time. If there is no power for a week, you need to turn it off and on again, otherwise it will not be paired. There were a couple of wires that ended up making whining noises and eventually started losing one side of the stereo, so I switched to Bluetooth. I don't notice any audio issues when switching from a phone to a Rockford Fosgate 9 speaker. If you charge it while using it occasionally, you hear a whine, but unplugging and plugging it back in stopped it for me every time. The thing is a pile of crap. Almost every time I use it, it randomly starts stuttering and ruining the music. Then you have to turn it off and on again to get it working again. If you disconnect, the device will turn off after about 30 minutes and you won't be able to comment on it.
