Really good for drawing

I loved how the LYRA pencils worked when I used them on paper - the lead was slick and since they are water soluble you can dampen the lead to get both tonal values and color changes Get stats like ink. I plan to get them back.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • Can hurt

Perfect tool for acrylic painting

There are three different sizes and the difference in hardness works very well. Outline or fill in dark areas. Sometimes the case gets a bit slippery with prolonged use of the stick, but it's still a great product.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Only available in white

Excellent quality! in drawing media

It was a pleasant surprise! They are highly pigmented and truly water soluble. They are the perfect size and weight. They have been packed in air bubble to avoid damage. While they seem so strong and sturdy in the hand, I don't see how that's possible. But appreciate the thought of the seller. The price is amazing. And they work wonderfully! I love her.

Pros
  • Sold in a set of 3 graphite pencils: 2B, 6B and 9B grade
Cons
  • No memory

These are the funniest art supplies since Fun came to Funtown

LYRA water soluble graphite pencils are one of my favorite things. I always paint with them curled up on the couch. Things to try: 1. Wet the paper and draw on the paper. Blooms beautifully!2. Paint dry and then use the brush to wet parts of the drawing and see what happens. Spray water on the drawing and watch it explode! 4. Use a wet brush and run it over the pen, then smudge the color.

Pros
  • Dissolves in water for a monochromatic watercolor effect
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Does not produce deep, rich gray tones. Looks metallic.

I bought these to do large graphite drawings and was hoping to get deep gray tones from almost black. They don't allow you to create deep gray tones. After moisturizing to even out the base coat, my next coat just seemed to sit on top, looking thin and metallic. It didn't go dark or saturated like it did with the 6B pencil. Good as a gimmick, but not for an artist hoping to make a big drawing. Charcoal works best, or a very soft traditional tombow pencil.

Pros
  • Solid graphite pencils ideal for sketching, laying out and shading large areas.
Cons
  • cord is shorter than others
