Instructions are TERRIBLE!

The instructions for making the Gypsy Wife Quilt in this book are absolutely TERRIBLE! It is very difficult to know which block size to make at which point in the quilt. There are multiple sizes for each individual block, and the instructions list the final size of the blocks, so you'll have to keep adding half an inch when trying to figure out which block to make next. The finished quilt cut chart also doesn't list block sizes, so you can't check what block size you need to make that way. If…

Poor instructions not worth the price

I wish I had read the other reviews more thoroughly before purchasing this product. The blanket is nice, but the instructions are definitely not worth the price. More specifically, the instructions for each block are fine, but these are general blocks that you can read about anywhere. What makes Gypsy Wife unique and challenging is the way the blocks, strips, and sections are assembled. There are no instructions in this section, only diagrams. later The most important thing to know about this pattern is that it's completely different from the usual quilt-in-a-day patterns that are popular today most common occurrence. Jen Kingwell's approach is to create each block separately (no 'fold and hit') and then meticulously combine them. The final construction is a bit of a logic puzzle to decipher where the blocks will go (and in some cases decide which block looks best where).
