They also give you plenty of cord between the plug and the first lighted hat to hang which is great most lighted items bought today don't have a lot of extra cord so I always have to use extension cords which I don't like. They are very cute and a great length. However, the brim of one of the hats was torn off upon arrival. It's okay, but then when they were hung, the cord broke. The friend was able to connect it, but in hindsight they must have had another rope to hang them from, not just a power cord. I never had a remote control. These lanterns are cute but difficult to assemble. But I thought they were worth the time. Until one day it got windy. These fires burn everywhere. No matter how tightly you attach your hats to your lantern cord, it won't be tight enough in gusty winds and you'll end up having to retie your hats. These hats are cute but take time to assemble. Bought 4, installed one to see how they look. I am returning all 4 sets. I put one set on a gazebo next to my pool - under a covered eaves. The assembly was a bit tricky (think a ball of Christmas lights trying to unravel it), but not particularly difficult.
