Works best in can openers

I've tried this with several different sized cans (ranging from traditional to Costco canned chicken) and this can opener works through them all with no problems. The magnet is strong so the lid won't fall on the counter and make a mess, and the jar seals well to avoid the same problem. I haven't tried a rear knife sharpener yet, but I didn't buy it for that either. (didn't know it existed!) Haven't had it for a very long time but so far so good. If there are any reuse issues I will update the…

Pros
  • Removable cutting unit, dishwasher safe. The can opener features a removable, dishwasher safe cutter for easy cleaning.
Cons
  • Minor issues

NOT heavy, good for kitchen and dining room

It's not an opener It's not! And the box doesn't say anything about it - the description is misleading. It's pretty much all plastic except for the blade and a few other little things and weighs about half the weight of mine old Cuisinart Die Can Opener Cast.(Why do companies make an amazing product for a while and then just quit? This old Cuisinart was a workhorse and a beautiful thing that lasted *many* years - until one of the few plastic parts on it just died is.) You need a heavy-duty can…

Pros
  • Extra Tall Design: The tall can opener's design (10.24"H x 5.12"W x 6.9"D) makes it easy to open jars of different sizes.
Cons
  • No automatic

It works and I've had enough

First I have to say that I'm cursed with a can opener! They either don't work at all or only a few months before their death. I think they know me by my first name at the dollar store because I always buy can openers. I bought expensive ones, cheap ones, it doesn't matter if they don't last long. It got so bad that I started using a manual can opener. Now I have arthritis in my hands and I couldn't walk that path anymore and had to buy an electric can opener. I'm embarrassed to admit how much…

Pros
  • Patented Surecut Technology: The kitchen can opener features patented Surecut Technology - opens cans the first time, every time.
Cons
  • Many things

Chrome plated lightweight plastic push lever.

I bought this to replace a Hamilton Beach can opener I had about 10 years ago. The only reason I replaced it is because the white lever turned yellow after years of use and still worked great. They really saved on this new model. The lever handle is cheap chrome plated plastic. Folds out for easy cleaning. I'm keeping it, but I want it to be done the way it was many years ago.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • faded

VERY useful: Electric

I injured my wrist and couldn't use the manual can opener I had, Hamilton Beach got me out of a lot of pain with no difficulty. maybe from above. You simply prick the glass and remove your hand from the "control cap". It automatically moves across the top and turns off when the can is fully open. The magnet will hold the top until you remove it. The lace/lace is detachable so you can wash it in hot water. This would be very helpful for the elderly with arthritis or any kind of stiffness. I'm…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made

Bad design, cheap assembly.

Bought this can opener in March 2019, used it almost completely on a few cans a month. It's November 2019 and it happened. The main gear that turns the wheel that turns the can is broken. Remember that this is the most important component of a can opener after the blade and magnet. It is made of cheap white metal or thick plastic. It's sad as the device was excellent in every other way, but come on, just a few months and a few cans a month and it breaks? I'm trying to contact Hamilton Beach as…

  • Not the best

Opening jars like a warm knife cuts butter.

This is the best can opener I have ever used. Serious. When I lived with my mom she had a nice automatic can opener on her kitchen cabinet that was pretty impressive for its time. She had it for many years and it worked great. After I moved out, she gave me an automatic can opener. Bless my mom, she tried to help but it hurt to use this thing. It wouldn't grab the glass if you weren't at the right angle. And when he finally took hold of it, he did not pierce the glass. You have to use enough…

  • Nice packaging

  • Can't remember
