This was a gift for my husband as our original 40 year old electric knife dusted Thanksgiving 2014. I chose this knife because it received the highest ratings. Husband likes the weight and weight. I like the bag it can be stored in and that it's easy to clean. I'd give it an even higher rating, but reviews have raised some concerns about durability, especially if it's only used a couple of times a year. I expect it will take a decade or so, but the jury is out.

Unlike a switch, it is difficult to keep a constant pressure on a trigger. On first use it became apparent that my mother had no control over the cutting process as she kept pulling the trigger and cutting the meat was sloppy. I would imagine that someone without arthritis and younger would not have experienced the same problem. Don't forget to make sure that this isn't a problem for you as the electronics item costs $7.95 to ship.

I bought this product to replace a Hamilton Beach electric knife we bought about 40 (yes, 40) years ago. It worked very well. Gave it to my daughter for Thanksgiving and was going to buy a new one. Bought the "Best of the Line" Hamilton Beach for $50 to cut a large rib roast into 1 1/2" steaks. The high ratings on this knife are downright odd. It's just too uncomfortable to use for long periods of time. This trigger has a bizarre design. The trigger is below. Instead of pulling the trigger, you have to pull the trigger, and it's not easy to pull. The grip is taller at the back and thinner at the front, so your hand naturally tends to slide forward when trying to pull the trigger.
