My hamster died the day after using this product. He had breathing problems and eye infections, eventually developing painful convulsions. I have used another brand before and had no problems. I saw another user report that his/her hamster had similar symptoms and died after using this product but didn't take it seriously. I think I should have. :(

If I could give this product 0 stars, I would! This sand killed my little hamster. When I started using this sand he started having trouble breathing. And one day he just couldn't breathe, I took him to the vet and they couldn't do anything. And his lungs were cracking and he was in so much pain because of your hamster sand. You should be ashamed and never allowed to sell it. YOUR HAMSTER KILLER!

My winter white loves to dig, poop, sleep and eat in the sand but he doesn't roll over to wash himself. Even if MY hamster just likes to play in it, that doesn't mean your hamster will do the same. It doesn't seem to bother her airway (I did mention she sleeps in it, after all). Overall it's really good value for money. Since my hamster plays in it, I usually take a quick look at the packaging, but with the price and quantity you can't be sure of a safe product.
