Not for threaded rods

I too was disappointed that this cannot be used for a threaded rod. The rod stops about 1/4 of the way through as others have said, making it a little useless even for those wanting to use it as a clutch.

Wrong thread

These overpriced tension nuts do not fit a real threaded rod (or screw). It screws in 1/4 inch. You need a thread cutter to properly cut and clean threads. And you can do it for a lot less at Lowe's.

Pros
  • Nuts
Cons
  • Slightly cracked

Thread not fully threaded

There was a problem that this item is not fully threaded. I think I'm one of the unlucky ones. I work at a car dealership so I just tapped into both parts. The truth is hard to find. Try Grainger, but it might cost more. Here, a bit of it costs about $14. So do the math.

Pros
  • Fasteners
Cons
  • wrinkled

The thread does not let the threaded shank through completely

As mentioned in another review, the thread can at best only be inserted halfway before tightening. Tried four different threaded shafts. Nobody was more than halfway through. You have to hunt the thread for it to work. $15-$30 if you don't have a faucet or have access to a faucet to fix the $6 part.

Pros
  • Union nuts
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
