These are very durable shoes, light, lots of plastic. They were a little "chunky" but I imagine they would be fine for hiking once he puts them on. He spends a lot of time barefoot or in running shoes, so that was a change. They are a nice color and true to US size. He wears a 4.5-5 depending on the shoe and it fits well.

Beautiful shoes for my very active grandson! My granddaughter loves these shoes. She loves the colors and the fit! She is 7 years old and wears a size 13 which suits her energetic style. She walks and climbs in it all day. These shoes are solidly built to withstand the young athlete's activity level. Hiking, camping, rock climbing and more! Great shoes for the money. We are both very happy.

I loved the look of these shoes and so does my 7 year old. They also work well for his wide foot, although he doesn't have arch support. Most disappointing is that there is some hard rubber on the outsole, but most of the base of the sole and the areas around the hard rubber are soft foam.
