Decent, low cost, alternative to a several hundred dollar high end model

If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, the issues with this model can be worked out. It is of good build quality, but needs to be taken apart and the manufacturer's grease removed/replaced with bearing grease (an easy job - see YouTube videos). What they use is way too stiff and impedes easy rotation. The tilt knob has some play when loosened up and is another easy fix if you take it apart and add a rubber washer to allow for fine drag adjustment (again, YouTube videos exist on how to…

Would not recommend

Has a terrible wobble when the horizontal knob is unlocked. But when you tighten it down, it catches and drags. Doesn’t move smoothly at all. Wouldn’t recommend.

Good buy, recommended.

Pro's: indeed very light weight thanks to the carbonfiber material. Movement is fluid and smooth. Very easy to setup. Have only used it in my backyard taking pics of birds. Need to test it in the true outdoors, but I'm sure it will perform just as well.Con's: when mounting on the tripod, the screw diameter seems small and it appears that the gimble is not perfectly level horizontally with the tripod. This could be my lack of experience setting up gimbals on tripods.

Would be excellent if quality control was a bit better.

This has the potential to be a great purchase if only the quality control was better. Everything was well designed and machined. The issue I have with mine is the graduated arm is not screwed tightly to the pivot point and moves slightly. I would tighten it but it has a metal plate covering the screws. There appear to be two of them as they can be seen in the small gap between the two pieces. I would send it back for a better one but am headed out and need it this weekend. Time for a bit of JB…

Good Gimbal for the Money

As other have said the cheaper gimbals like this one need to be taken apart and the factory grease removed and a lighter grease installed so they work more smoothly. That only takes about 15 minutes and is an easy fix.I used the gimbal on two trips an love it.

Poor mechanical design uses no ball or thrust bearings.

This very close ( if not exactly the same as ) to Neewer Professional Heavy Duty Carbon Fiber 360 Degree Panoramic Gimbal Tripod Head and definitely has the same problems ( see 3 and 2 star reviews for that one). The design is also very similar to Neewer Professional Heavy Duty Metal 360 Degree Panoramic Gimbal Tripod Head.
