It works like a timer, you physically turn the device to set the step for the countdown timer. But it should also have a clock/alarm function. Well, it turns out that every time you set the timer, it pauses the clock and resets the audio settings. So the clock is VERY off, for example you make a good 15 minute timer, now the clock will stop for 15 minutes and when your timer is up the clock will continue from where you started the timer.
