The drives are great, the goHardDrive vendor is even better.

Honestly I can't say anything bad about these discs. I ordered and received 30 of these drives with an average performance of just over two years. That's perfectly acceptable to me. As they were used I expected them to look used so not much to report here. I can say they were clean, each disc was sealed in an anti-static bag and had more than enough protection for shipping. The only negative I can say about these drives is that HGST/WD drives 8TB and up have more vibration than usual. I knowโ€ฆ

Don't waste money!

Bought this drive in August 2020 to store games I don't play a lot and on the same computer I have 3-2TB SSDs for games I play a lot. I want to say that the hard drive is used very little. When playing games that were on the disc, I've had issues with games crashing or long pauses, but I never realized it was the disc. One day I noticed that when my system was booting, Windows detected an error and scanned the drive. So at this point I ran a WDSMART scan on the drive and it came back with badโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • boring packaging

I wasn't really concerned about the speed as I only use this for backups and it's free 29 days a month then 1 day for backup. but. I moved data to this drive and I can tell you that it is NOT a corporate drive. This is a HOME drive and the thumping I hear inside this drive scares me. I would be concerned that EVERY ride would make as much noise as these heads moving. It sounds like a fan spinning inside and getting hit by a cord or cord and when it rebounds and falls back into the fan it keepsโ€ฆ

Unreliable for storage

I bought 2 x 10TB drives hoping to use them exclusively for backups. I needed to copy 6.5TB to each drive. The copy started out reasonably well at 200MB/s but quickly dropped to 50-70MB/s, averaging around 60. This is unacceptable for a 7200rpm drive and clearly shows the drive is failing. Another proof of the unreliable state of the hard drive. (and that the low speeds were proof of that) I could attribute the slowdown to a fairly audible hiss coming from the drive. Some of the positiveโ€ฆ

  • Complete set

So far so good, best on internal hard drives

I bought about 30 of these drives in two separate batches for some servers at my manufacturing facility. These servers are running hot spare RAID 5 so they have a little cover for me in case of a failure. I was VERY skeptical about this purchase as refurbished rims can mean just about anything. most of it is not good. After receiving these discs (which were well packaged), I certified each and every one. They all passed. I checked the SMART status which was fine. A different diagnostic was used

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • Blank
