The real issue I'm having is the case itself, which is aluminum. If you screw them into tight holes, the aluminum socket may come loose. My purchase was a one hit deal and I had to drill through a couple of gears. I figured that would happen when I put them in because I need them for the stainless steel frame. No damage, no foul. I used a power drill to drill 8 holes in 6.3/8" diameter steel plates to cover and protect the cast aluminum body with uneven screw holes for the two pieces. Gear. I tested them on an aluminum project and they worked very well. The dots are pretty sharp and seemed to outlast a project and it looks like they have plenty of life left. The dots aren't perfectly centered, but close enough for what I did. maybe within .015", maybe less, but probably better than a threaded hole.
