Description of Experience Exceptional Sound Quality with the HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro

HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro is a high-quality S/PDIF output for the Raspberry Pi. It uses the I2S sound port that connects directly to the CPU without the need for an additional USB conversion. You will need a distribution with an up-to-date kernel (at least summer 2016). The drivers are included in the latest versions of most common distributions. Compatible with: Raspberry Pi A+/B+/2/3/Zero. Assembled and Tested.

Easy upgrade to desktop barebones

I used this for the Volumio project and it fits perfectly. I've had no problems with it and it works great with my Shia Bifrost. It was an easy decision to build this as it added new functionality to my system. I could upgrade the Bifrost to USB 5th gen, but I'd still have to connect an Rpi to it. It was cheaper and I didn't have to wait for Schiit's schedule or deal with all the delays and shipping costs. I'm also very glad this item was available here at Revain - the competitor's main product

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

Ideal(!) for Kodi media players.

If you use Kodi, you need Digi+ Pro. If you are watching Hi-Def content encoded with Dolby (Digital 5.1, 7.1, D+) or DTS audio, the Rpi will not natively pass this multi-channel encoding to your receiver. Digi+ Pro is the answer! I'm using Rpi 3 and Openelec Kodi 8 which includes native Digi+ support. Just turn off your Rpi, turn on Digi+, start it, go to your output device settings, select an ALSA (Digi) capable device, enable audio transmission (make sure you have all Dolby select options)…

Pros
  • Useful for more than intended purpose
Cons
  • Almost never

Broken product best for desktops barebones

The card keeps breaking my RPI3b+, I'm pretty sure it's broken, it's gradually gotten so unstable that RPI3b+ can't access my wireless network anymore. RPI3b only starts in AP mode with card connected, no matter how many times I set my WiFi information on the website. I tried Volumio, Moode and Rune Audio. Unfortunately I missed my return window. When it worked, it sounded very good. I'm stuck with lemon.

Works great, just don't use HifiberryOS. Or not this board at all?

As far as I can tell the hardware is fine but I've noticed regular and occasional relay clicks when connected to my Schiit Bifrost 2 when music is playing (middle lane) and when nothing is. play. The clicking noises when nothing is playing are a bit annoying - I hear them in my living room for no reason, but when they happen while listening to music it means a momentary music pause which is VERY ANNOYING. Anyway, long story short, the fault seems to be in the HifiberryOS, not the board (tried…

Outstanding sound quality!

Very happy with the sound quality of this unit. I've used it successfully to play 24-bit 192kHz HD audio. (I can't test higher sample rates/bit depth or DSD compatibility.) To get excellent SQ, we recommend using a linear power supply or a heavily filtered switching power supply with the Raspberry Pi. The Digi+ Pro has the ability to connect a dedicated power supply soldering one of the pins to ensure full isolation from the RPi. I haven't tried this, but I suspect it's the way to get the best…

Pros
  • Computers and accessories
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
