Standard Alfalfa Hay

Yes, the pieces are small and there are quite a lot of "powdered" plant parts, but that's what every alfalfa hay looks like. Alfalfa doesn't grow in long strands, it's actually stems with leaves, so you end up with lots of small pieces, which are the dried leaves of the alfalfa plant. Overall, the material I received is very green and smells fresh. I've given it to a few rabbits when they're not eating and it tends to revitalize them and rekindle their interest in food. My rabbits love it!

Let's just say I've tried many different types of hay from different places. My rabbit is kind of super picky, which I didn't realize. Something I noticed elsewhere is that most of them looked pretty dead and brown. When I stumbled across this one, it seemed like my bunnies were obsessed with it. Does not cause asthma like store bought hay

This is not cheap alfalfa hay so I was dismayed at the size of the box when it arrived. I didn't need it as we are running low - after 8 weeks. They really box it up so you get more than you think (compared to a big box of alfalfa hay). You definitely get value for money.
