Just a few thousandths small.

I am using it for drilling 3/4" holed in the roofs of the vans at work, installing NMO mounts for the business band VHF antennas. After 6 holes and 6 mounts, the drill was still working fine. The hole is just a couple thousandths too small, requiring me to feed the wire through the hole to get the mount in, instead of popping the mount in from the bottom like its supposed to be installed. Not a deal breaker but not the right size hole causing more work to be done on the job. Did the last 6 with

Pros
  • Long lasting works great for workAbsolutely worth the penny
Cons
  • The hole saw may be prone to slipping and sliding while trying to make a cut

Perfect for cutting steel and a great value

I've cut over 5 dozen holes in 1.5mm steel cover plates for Neutrik XLR (and other) panel mount connectors. Check the manual that comes with it and be sure to set the speed appropriately. Use oil when needed. Don't force it - it's not exceptionally fast at cutting, but if you let it cut at a reasonable speed it'll work fine.I'm amazed at the quality of the product given how low the price is. It's still plenty sharp, and the spring mechanism never fails to eject the cutout piece when the hole is

Pros
  • Buenos y buen precio
Cons
  • The hole saw is not suitable for cutting through thicker metal sheets

WORKS GREAT BUT MUST DO IT CORRECTLY

This is a pretty good cutter. I’m rating the 5/8” version which I purchased and made 8 holes/cuts into 1/4 plate steel. As another reviewer noted, 1) you must cut at a slow speed specified in the instructions with the cutter, and 2) you must use plenty of continuous cutting oil including backing off the cut and putting oil right on the cutting surface throughout the cut, and 3) you have to use pressure slow and not rush the cut. If you don’t follow these simple instructions you will ruin the…

Pros
  • excelente articulo, he realizado 10 perforaciones en acero de 3,5mm y a mantenido su filo
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use with a hand drill

Good buy for the price, but pilot bit is weak

Pilot bit is the only reason this didnt get 5 stars from me. Had to punch 12 19mm holes in 16ga stainless. First the bad, started out by drilling pilot holes to make it easier when changing to the tool. First hole and the pilot snapped off. Now for the good, after pulling the pilot and reshaping it on the grinder and drilling pilot holes out the size of the pilot on the tool this little tool went to work and took care of business. 12holes later and the teeth on the cutter look like new and it…

Pros
  • Provides superior drilling performance
Cons
  • The hole saw may be prone to getting stuck or jammed in the material being cut

Worth the money without a doubt

I needed to widen a hole in 1/4" steel, kept flooding the cutter with oil which I used in my drill press and it cut like butter, I did not use the drill bit that came with it since I was widening an existing hole. I measured an 1/8" on the outside lip of the existing hole and and marked it and just adjusted the press table to come down on my marks. I have other hole cutter bits that I paid twice the amount for and this one is just as good if not even better. Cutting steel can be tricky if you…

Pros
  • High-performing and efficient blade design
Cons
  • The product may be difficult to find replacement parts for if needed

Be very careful, pilot bits snap!

The metal hole cutters work well. The only issue was the pilot drill bits snapped on 2 of the 3 saws. I was not able to contact the seller directly and ask for replacements

Pros
  • Well worth your money cut 27 holes and don't even look like I used it
Cons
  • The product is quite expensive compared to other similar products on the market

Wow-- super sharp, super quick, and super smooth edge on cut.

Must admit, metal cabinet cutting newbie here but I wanted to cut a hole to pass power cords through the bottom of a new Gladiator Premier Gearbox wall cabinet. Had metal drill bits and hole saw bits for doors but was looking for something that would easily cut a smooth 1-3/4" hole. Well, this item performed perfectly. I applied a little WD-40 to the cutting area location and using a simple hand-held drill was done in less than a minute. I'd also purchased a deburr tool to clean-up the hole

Pros
  • Spring loaded pilot bit for fast drilling and clean plug ejection.
Cons
  • The hole saw may not be very accurate, leading to mistakes and wasted material

Quick and efficient

Well made hole cutter! I especially like the spring on the center bit. It pushes the metal sheeting slug out so it's ready to drill another hole right away. I'm using it on a drill press to cut holes in old Fe/Cu alloy sheeting that was used on an aqueduct (built around 100 years ago). As long as you drill slower rpms and the sheet is secured well (can't move when being drilled) the hole cutter leaves perfect holes. I've have 3 sizes: 1-1/8", 1-3/8" and 1-9/16" and all work perfectly. I've yet…

Pros
  • Cuts through a wide range of materials
Cons
  • The hole saw may require a lot of skill and practice to use effectively

3/4 carbide bit with pilot.

I have only drilled 8 holes in 3/16 steel so far. The 3/4 bit is holding up well and cuts fine. Use plenty of cutting oil and go slowly. The pilot bits are not good, predrill all your centering holes with 1/4 drill bit so the pilot bit is just centering instead of cutting. If you order this 3/4 bit or any other, be sure to order multiple pilot bits, you won’t be sorry.

Pros
  • Cuts stainless steel, mild steel, iron, copper and brass sheet.
Cons
  • The product may not be very versatile, only suitable for cutting holes in metal sheet

Cutter is good; pilot bit cheap and fragile

This cutter worked well on 3/16" galvanized steel until the pilot bit, which was cheap and fragile, snapped. Tried to contact the manufacturer using the information on the package. No response. Terrible customer service! And while a replacement was listed on ebay, it did not come with the spring (likely to disappear when the bit breaks) and was out of stock. Fortunately, I found a replacement from another company. If you're in the same predicament, search for "Ideal Industries SmoothStart…

Pros
  • Suitable for cutting through stainless steel and sheet metal with ease
Cons
  • The hole saw may cause the material being cut to warp or bend

Make very accurate sized holes

The bit makes significant noise as it cuts even with cutting oil. I have made 12 cuts through 16 gauge steel with no noticeable wear to the teeth. A drill press is helpful.

Pros
  • They last forever and they are very sharp
Cons
  • The blade may overheat if used for extended periods of time

Cuts like a butter knife

This thing works great! Just have to follow directions. I put a little oil to allow the drill bit to run smoothly. It seriously cuts like butter like other reviewers mentioned. I used it to cut two holes for soap dispenser on my Kraus stainless steel sink, sink thickness is 18 gauge. I used some painters tape to limit the mess/clean up. Have fun!

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • The hole saw may not be very user-friendly for left-handed users

Cuts thick aluminum at slow speeds.

Nice clean holes. Used this for cutting holes for neutrik panel xlrs on large wall panels. Got the job done quick, and adjustable Allen key/ bit, center, really helped with keeping thick aluminum stock holes, both clean and accurate. Good product so far. Did about 159 holes all in all.

Pros
  • Power Tool Parts & Accessories
Cons
  • The product may not be widely available in certain areas

Great too that cuts precise holes. Highly recommended

Great tool. Cuts like a knife thru butter and the holes are to size, not oversize. I’ll buy more sizes as needed. That's my review!

Pros
  • Only had for a few days. So far they work good
Cons
  • The hole saw may break easily if used improperly
