Simple and easy-to-use sensor

Ideal for use with Raspberry Pi. Wide input voltage range, no adjustments. The output is always 3 volts regardless of the power supply. You're not driving the LED directly, so use a 2222 transistor or similar for this test. Sensitivity is better at 5V or higher than 3V. Everything worked for me out of the box. I'm packing something to play with the cat!

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Her contact chart is a bit misleading

The contact chart on her photos is wrong. Looking at the position of C1 I would imagine that the sensor is pointing towards me and C1 is pointing away from me (correct orientation). Unfortunately in this position their VCC will be GND and GND will be VCC which I found out after doing the magic smoke. . Overall a pretty good product just a misleading chart.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Basically everything is fine, but...

Simplicity and stability

They are tiny and require no settings to use. They all worked great for me. Range probably 10-15 feet. They really need a "warm-up" period before they start giving stable readings. Once turned on, they work within 2 seconds, but usually take about a minute for readings to be consistent. I use them with a 3 volt logic microcontroller. Definitely recommend.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • All right

Wide Vcc range, product photos accurately reflect poor soldering

Five stars for expected performance, but those who haven't seen poor soldering directly from product photos might be disappointed. I just re-soldered the bad connections and the sensors are working fine now. No stars are lost as the photos clearly show this issue. I used one of the sensors for a project so that when someone stands in front of or walks past the sensor, the LED string provides accent lighting for a wood project I made. The sensor is great for this application because the person…

  • Easy to read control panel

Got 3, the tags are a bit sloppy!

I would like the pin marking on the board to be clearer (not the same as in the photo). One out of three boards burned out due to incorrect pin guessing. The other two boards worked fine, latency is instantaneous (that's what I was looking for, so everything is fine!). The output voltage is quite low, only 1.556 V DC, the LED barely registers; You need to connect a transistor for more functionality.

Pros
  • Pretty package
Cons
  • I don't remember

According to a renowned YOUTUBER and Arduino S/W & H/W engineer, he believes that RF radiation from a nearby device can cause IR devices to become unstable. I tried a lot, but only AM312 worked stably. It's inexpensive and runs on both 3.3V and 5V. It's also small. The only complaint I have is that the 3.3V sensitivity can only detect motion 3-4 feet away. I think for further distance measurements one should consider a higher (5V etc.) supply voltage or a larger lens window.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
