They do the job if installed carefully.

I broke everything I tried to install with a regular (flat) screwdriver. If you don't have a special tool, the best way to assemble them is to install the screw, then screw the insert and screw together, and then remove the screw. I had no problems with that.

Good product, problem and solution.

The notch in this product creates a weak point that allows it to break when screwed in. Solution: Thread a socket head (or similar) screw with the correct thread pitch (6-32 in this case) into this socket and use this combination to screw it into the device that requires the socket, remove the screw and You're done. I put mine in nylon, not a strong material so inserts were needed. Works great now.

It crumbles like clay

Extremely disappointed. "Made in Italy" promises real quality. They certainly look exactly like the photos. But when I tried to install it in a plastic socket that was coming loose, the first one fell apart under the pressure of a screwdriver tip. Keep in mind that the receiving material is plastic, much softer than the wood they were made for. I even drilled a small hole for larger diameter brass inserts. I was concerned that the plastic would fail, either rip off immediately or tear. So I was
