  • Similar Products Comparison

While there are several ice traction devices available in the market, the Hillsound Trail Crampon stands out due to its exceptional performance and durability. Let's compare it to some similar products:

  • Brand X Ice Traction Cleats: These cleats offer a similar design with carbon steel spikes, but they lack the wide dispersion of the Hillsound Trail Crampon, compromising stability on slippery surfaces.
  • Brand Y All-Terrain Crampons: Although these crampons provide good traction, they lack the durability of the Hillsound Trail Crampon, making them less suitable for intense outdoor activities.
  • Brand Z Winter Hiking Spikes: While these spikes offer decent traction, they don't feature the flexible harness system found in the Hillsound Trail Crampon, resulting in a less secure fit.
  • Enhance Your Outdoor Adventures

The Hillsound Trail Crampon solves the common problem of slips and falls on packed snow and icy terrains, giving you the confidence to conquer your favorite outdoor activities. Whether you're hiking rugged trails, ice climbing, or exploring icy landscapes, these crampons will provide the necessary traction to keep you safe and stable.

These crampons are not limited to just outdoor recreation. They are also ideal for various other applications, such as:

  • Winter Work: If you work in a profession that requires navigating icy surfaces, such as snow removal, construction, or park maintenance, the Hillsound Trail Crampon is an essential tool to ensure your safety and productivity.
  • Remote Locations: If you plan to venture into remote areas with unpredictable weather conditions, having the Hillsound Trail Crampon in your backpack can be a lifesaver, providing you with the necessary grip to navigate treacherous icy terrains.
  • Emergency Preparedness: When it comes to emergency situations during winter months, these crampons can prove invaluable. Whether you're assisting in search and rescue operations or simply need to navigate through icy environments during a power outage, these crampons are a reliable companion.
  • GRIP ON PACKED SNOW AND ICE - 11 carbon steel 2/3 inch spikes that are dispersed across a broad area. WARRANTY - These spikes are built to last and are covered by a category leading two-year warranty. SECURE FIT - The elastomer harness fits a variety of footwear while the strap ensures a secure fit. Good product but serious durability issues

This is my second pair of glasses and I have tried many other brands over the years. In the winter I walk 3-4 times a week on fairly steep trails, 3 miles round trip. The product looks well made, fits well and is a good buy on steep slopes, but after 15-20 walks the chain links that attach the crampons to the shoe start to break making the device (see photo) unusable, unless you have a zip tie or some wire in your backpack to fix a temporary trail. For the price, this is a serious disadvantage.

    RUSTWorthy Winter Companion

I bought these because I am between sizes with the Kahtoola brand and when I wear my climbing shoes (larger size) it causes problems with them. The reviews were great too. They fit well and seem to have a good design, but after 3. THREE! use, they are rusty. I have had multiple pairs of micro bolts from multiple manufacturers and have never had a rust problem. I just assumed they were rustproof since their main purpose is to provide traction on ice/snow, but they aren't. My Kahtools lasted…

A good alternative is outdoor recreation

I'm wearing mountaineering snowshoes with aggressive teeth and 2" Black Diamond crampons. I find them easy to put on and take off, they provide enough traction on shiny ice and firm snow, and that's why they're worth the extra weight in a backpack: when I'm exhausted on the way down, and 2" cats often stumble. I don't trip with it.It's like some protection no cons.If you cross shop I recommend getting a pair with velcro on top and a toe bar.It helps prevent build up from twisting on boot.Me…

    Microspike vs. Hillsound Crampons

This review is a direct comparison between Kahtoola Microspike Crampons and Hillsound Trail Crampons Crampons. I have a Microspike and my husband has a Hillsound. Both are excellent. We pull them over our boots and embark on a hike through the Gallatin Mountains in Montana. Trails ranged from pure ice to sleet and mud. The spikes handled the conditions as well as tipping and dismounting very well. We felt like we were walking on regular, level ground. Here is a comparison of the two products…

They're slightly larger than Kahtoola micro lugs

They're durable and work well on icy trails. They are not as easy to put on and take off as my Kahtoola micro cleats as I don't think the Velcro is necessary. They are also slightly larger than Kahtoolas. Mostly I wear Keen women's boots in size 9.5 (40) for light hiking, but for cold winter hikes I wear insulated Keen boots in size 11 (42). Size M Hillsounds is a bit big for light boots but Kahtoolas fit. I can also wear Kahtoolas over heavier boots, but Hillsounds work better for them. I have

    Great crampons for occasional users

I am not an experienced ice climber or mountaineer. I bought these cats for trips to New Zealand and Iceland, and I also keep them in my car when I'm doing winter photography in the Sierras. On my recent trip to Iceland they excelled on all types of hard ice, shiny ice, wet and waterfall ice, snow, frozen ground and rocky conditions. They're easy to put on and take off (do yourself a favor and exercise from the comfort of your living room, at least with gloves on), feel very durable, and are a…

They just work! Easy to turn on, easy to turn off.

We used them for winter hiking and light mountaineering in New England wintry conditions (snow, ice and icy snow). They worked great! Easy to put on, easy to take off, very durable and they do exactly what you expect them to. They make hiking on packed snow and icy surfaces easier. No more slipping, falling, dragging your dog on ice, etc. They also use a lot less energy to move with them because your feet don't slide like they do on sand, which happens when you don't slide. use them. Just bought a second pair.

I gave them a C. I think if you were using them for light climbing (up and down) they would work great. The disadvantage of the construction is that the chains are connected with a rubber ring. Too much tension and the rubber breaks, the chain hangs and becomes unusable. I always recommend throwing in some zip ties in your gear and you'll be able to quickly and easily complete current repairs so you can get to work. For what I used them for, they couldn't handle stress. This is the second pair…
