In the picture they are made of stainless steel, shown in black. The back plate itself is great but I didn't want the super reflective polished stainless steel, when I contacted the seller they said I was wrong and that the picture didn't need to be altered. Elsewhere, stainless steel plates are sold cheaper. I was hoping to get steel in black so I paid more. Go somewhere else and save $20.
