Matching differential fluid for Honda CR-V 2015 or 2016

You will need a 3/8 torque wrench, two washers 18 and 20. Brake rod 3/8 and 2 liters. First loosen the fill screws, then loosen the drain screw, clean it with a magnet as you will almost certainly have a small gray metal streak on the magnet. Then reinstall the drain plug and torque to 35 lbf. Fill differential with new fluid. You will find that once you reach the maxmi6 e-liquid amount, e-liquid will start dripping from the filling hole when you stop adding e-liquid. I only needed 1.3 liters…

Awesome Stuff - A few things to know before trying.

Excellent! I have a 2005 Honda Element EX. The rear wobbled what appeared to be a transmission problem. A few things to note: On the back of the Honda, the socket is just the end of a standard ratchet. There is an upper and a lower cap. Make sure you remove the top cap first. If you remove the bottom plug and then do not remove the top plug, you will not be able to add fluid or move the vehicle. You will need a siphon tool to fill the transmission after the fluid has been drained. They're cheap

Genuine Honda product 2016 Pilot AWD

I received several liters of this fluid and a liter pump for a rear diff oil change on my 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L. Get for a new generation of pilots. This is partly because Honda didn't update their Maintenace Minder specs compared to last-gen Pilots, which were AWD and used VTM-4 fluid, and the HondaLink app (if you're using it) is incorrectly telling you that it's time to change the VTM fluid -4. although the manual and website list this dual pump fluid correctly. Even Revain says this fluid…

Good DIY fluid

It was pretty easy to swap out in my Honda CRV rear diff. I first removed the top plug on the diff (easily with a ratchet or breaker) and then removed the bottom plug to drain the fluid. I replaced the bottom plug and used a Hopkins 10803 FloTool transfer pump to force the dual pump fluid through the top hole and into the differential until it was full. Then I just screwed the top connector and that was it. It took about 20 minutes total including jacking up the car to access the differential…

  • Trouble

Disclaimer first: I'm retired, my wrenches are above average, I don't have a shop - I do everything in my 2 car garage, and I don't need to lift my Honda Pilot to do the change rear differential fluid. Step number 1, watch a YouTube video. Step #2: Buy genuine Honda differential fluid and washers from AMAZON for less than you can get them from a Honda dealer. Step number 3: If you don't have one, buy a liquid transfer pump from AMAZON or the X Brand store for about $10. Step number 4. Watch the

Pros

Cons
  • Waiting too long

My Honda Element AWD was making uncomfortable vibrations/humming and groaning when cornering or reversing out of a parking space. I was worried that it was transmission/drivetrain related and that there was a problem with the transmission or differential. The fluid has only done about 30,000 miles which seems like too much/change interval according to the Element Owners Club forums. I figured I'd spend $30-$40 on 2 bottles of genuine Honda Dual Pump Diff fluid, a fluid transfer pump and 20…
