This 90 degree adapter (specifically NEMA 5-15R to NEMA 5-15P) is great. If your outlets are properly installed with the ground pin at the bottom, you can use the adapter to connect the power cord from below so that the profile is no more than a few inches from the wall. That's great if the outlet is behind furniture near the wall, and also great if the power cord of what you're plugging in is pretty stiff/heavy, as I think this adapter reduces the stress on outlets.
