Cute and easy to sew

Bought for my teenage niece because she wanted a typewriter for her birthday. She really liked this book - it was really beautiful, clear and simple instructions for her, and it had a lot of beautiful items that she loved to make. She sewed her skirt for an hour and sewed confidently, which was amazing. Good price!

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Not a complete manual

I wouldn't call it a "complete manual" in the truest sense of the word. It's 58 pages, half of which are projects and the rest a mix of sewing terms, vocabulary, practice sheets and then (which is what I've been looking for the most) actual instructions. I'm a total newbie and that wasn't enough for me to really get started. I would like more tutorials on different stitches and techniques and more explanations of why. However, sewing is like learning by doing anyway, so I'm just going to get…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Perfect for beginners

Great book - just what I needed to get started. It's been years since I last saw a sewing machine so I wanted something nice and simple to brighten up and it was perfect. Nice clear diagrams that are easy to follow and I even found threading the machine and figuring out the bobbin a lot easier than I thought! The book has a fairly wide range of projects that are not too difficult for a beginner. I've already made some cute pillows and can't believe how easy it was - I want to start sewing again

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled
