DO NOT buy 577!

The H577dw is a terrible printer. It's amazing when it prints but HP has a design issue with the 576 and 577. It has now had to be replaced 3 times under warranty and is being returned for the 4th time in 7 months. Every time they replace my NEW printer with a "REFURBISHED" printer (read: someone else's broken piece of junk). I have an HP477dw that has been working great for over a year now. Don't buy 577.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Some Problems

Unreliable: Printer and accessories

Bought 577 only 18 months. return. I received an error message and called HP. The service said I need a visit. I discussed the error codes with two HP certified technicians. They both said the same thing: It's a new technology and we get a lot of calls from customers. Printers become unusable after 12-24 months (12 months warranty). Replacing the print panel costs MORE than a new printer. So if you don't plan to buy another new printer in 12-24 months, AVOID it.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Has defects

Better avoid this printer in Printers and supplies

This is a good printer for a while. I've had problems with the "print stripe" for a little over a year. HP cares more about collecting data on how you use your device than delivering a decent product. The ink prices are ridiculous, and if you happen to buy non-HP ink, the printer will warn you several times about how bad it is. When you call support, this is the first thing they ask you about. It's not because HP inks are better than other inks. This is because they profit from selling you…

Do not buy this printer

Like many others, this printer was great when it worked and nothing but a giant piece of plastic when it didn't. Worked for about 8 months then started throwing lots of false errors and now refuses to print. Spent hours troubleshooting at HP who finally confirmed it wouldn't work because the print drive system was defective. HP said they would replace under warranty, but after giving them everything they asked for, HP has since declined because the Revain seller is not an authorized HP…

  • Not just useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Hard to say

This printer completely exceeded my expectations. I have a business that requires me to send 600-1000 marketing emails at the end of each week. Every letter has a high-quality letterhead, which has always lost a lot of quality when printed on a laser printer. I ended up having to print 600 letters a week on a general purpose inkjet printer to make my logo and letterhead look crisp and stand out. Needless to say, a regular inkjet printer takes forever to print that many letters, and I ended up…

  • Finally bought it

GREAT PRINTER FOR BUDGET

This is the best value printer on the market today, whether you're a small home office or a medium-sized business. I was a bit concerned by some of the reviews about this printer being difficult to set up. We don't have an "IT department" as we wanted to use this printer for my husband's personal business. But after analyzing the entire printer market, this HP PageWide had the most features at the best price. So, here's the thing: you don't need an IT department to set up this printer. You just

The first two printers I bought from Staples had printing problems about every 30 pages. The page would print jagged lines at the top of the page and the printer would blue screen and die every few days, same as when trying to print PDFs from my phone. HP sent a tech to replace the board, but while they were here, the same problem arose. Tried a second printer from staples and same problem. Third printer from Revain and the jagged line is back. HP recommends using the generic driver, but then…

Updated July 2019 I no longer recommend HP. We have several of these printers. Forced HP firmware updates that now prevent the use of 3rd party inks, forcing you to use very expensive HP inks at 4 times the price. Without permission they have removed the function of the product and do not allow us to revert to older firmware. In addition, their collection of usage data can hardly be prevented, they persistently ask for permission at every opportunity until some user clicks "Yes". You are the…
