Avoid these monitors and look for something made by HPE (HP Enterprise) or some other reputable company, not HP. I bought this monitor because of USB-C, but when I first unpacked and plugged in my 2018 MacBook Pro 15, it doesn't send an image, just "No input found" but provides power that charges the MacBook. I called customer service, they put me through to 4 people doing the same thing. An absolutely gorgeous 4K display that can be positioned anywhere, making it versatile. The display is borderless, quite heavy but that's good, it feels solid thanks to the metal base. In conjunction with the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, it activates immediately. For the price, I cannot recommend this display enough. Just get it. I'm using DisplayPort to USB-C.

Image quality is excellent when using an HDMI cable, but USB-C features will not work on an Apple MacBook Pro M1 Max with the latest version of macOS. While I wish the USB-C interface and USB 3 ports would work, it's not worth the hassle of returning again. HDMI serves its purpose.

This monitor is having trouble connecting to a MacBook Pro. When you return to the monitor after a while, the monitor goes into a mode where it doesn't recognize a USB-C source. HP does not provide product support to resolve this issue. Workaround: Unplug the monitor power cord, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.

Great specs and price but doesn't work with M1 Mac at all. The Mac doesn't recognize the monitor and I haven't found any workarounds. Unfortunately, this is a good panel and otherwise very well designed.
